The mother of all disco floors
نویسنده
چکیده
We describe the floor used as the skin of the playful interactive space Ada, which was part of the Swiss National Exhibition Expo.02. The floor consisted of 360 hexagonal tiles, each of which comprised an aluminum frame, a glass top, a microcontroller, analog load sensors, and dimmable red, green, and blue neon lamps. A factory automation bus sensed and controlled the tiles. We developed software for signal processing of the load information, for generating visual effects on the floor, for tracking visitor paths, and for a variety of games and interactions.

Multi-objective planning of charging stations considering benefits of distribution company and charging stations owners
In recent years, electric vehicles have attracted significant attention due to environmental issues. Charging stations installation requires a systematic consideration of relevant issues such as determination of the location and size of charging stations. On the other hand, it is necessary to encourage private investors to invest in charging stations installations and to provide proper conditio...
متن کاملEffects of Interruptible Load on Decision Making of a Distribution Company in Competitive Environments
The main goal of this paper is to present a new day-ahead energy acquisition model for a distribution company (Disco) in a competitive electricity market environment with Interruptible Load (IL). The work formulates the Disco energy acquisition model as a bi-level optimization problem with some of real issues, and then studies and designs a Genetic Algorithm (GA) of this optimization problem to...

PURPOSE To develop and evaluate a multiphasic contrast-enhanced MRI method called DIfferential Sub-sampling with Cartesian Ordering (DISCO) for abdominal imaging. MATERIALS AND METHODS A three-dimensional, variable density pseudo-random k-space segmentation scheme was developed and combined with a Dixon-based fat-water separation algorithm to generate high temporal resolution images with robu...
متن کاملDISCO-SCA and Properly Applied GSVD as Swinging Methods to Find Common and Distinctive Processes
BACKGROUND In systems biology it is common to obtain for the same set of biological entities information from multiple sources. Examples include expression data for the same set of orthologous genes screened in different organisms and data on the same set of culture samples obtained with different high-throughput techniques. A major challenge is to find the important biological processes underl...
متن کاملDISCO Nets: DISsimilarity COefficient Networks
We present a new type of probabilistic model which we call DISsimilarity COefficient Networks (DISCO Nets). DISCO Nets allow us to efficiently sample from a posterior distribution parametrised by a neural network. During training, DISCO Nets are learned by minimising the dissimilarity coefficient between the true distribution and the estimated distribution. This allows us to tailor the training...
